Late Summer

I am sitting outside casting off the darkness I was feeling...cleansing...igniting my excitement...the thrill of
Autumn in the air. It is a preview, and it was much needed this morning. I
breathe deeply and smell the pungent aromas of nature as it holds onto the last
of Summer...the fresh-mowed grass, the damp mulch in the flower beds, the
decaying cuttings, the last blooms of roses. The wind whips the leaves into a
frenzy as they fan and flutter resisting the temptation to blow away. There is
still time. I am calmed by the moment and smile at the knowledge that when I am
feeling frantic and harried I can still hold on, to enjoy the day.
